Tent & Party Rentals in Morris County, NJ
Serving Morristown, Madison, Chatham, Mendham, Chester, and all of Morris County for 30+ years — from estate weddings on the Great Lawn to corporate galas downtown.
One of Our Strongest Markets, Even From Hunterdon
Morris County is one of Starrs Party's most active service areas — even though our main warehouse sits in Hunterdon County. Our secondary Bernardsville location (Ken Rent) is about 15 minutes from downtown Morristown, which makes weekly deliveries to Morristown, Madison, Mendham, and Chester routine for our crew.
Morris County has a personality unlike anywhere else we work. The county blends sprawling private estates in Mendham and Harding, historic Main Street boroughs like Morristown and Madison, polished corporate suburbs in Parsippany and Whippany, and rural western towns like Chester and Long Valley where farm weddings and barn-adjacent receptions are the norm. Every one of those communities needs a different tent, a different chair, and a different floorplan — and our 30+ years of working in the area means we know which is which without having to guess.
Venues
Vendor-Friendly Morris County Wedding Venues
These are the Morris County venues where we've actually delivered, set up, and broken down — every one allows outside tent and equipment rentals.
Frelinghuysen Arboretum
53 E Hanover Ave, Morristown
Garden weddings on the Great Lawn for 150-200 guests, with a reservable tent area that holds a full reception. Clear-top and sailcloth tents in the 20x40 to 40x60 range are the most popular setups here. Morris County Parks requires every vendor to complete a vendor application and provide proof of insurance — we handle that paperwork as part of the booking. Events must end by 10pm, and drones, balloons, confetti, and open flames need Fire Marshal approval. We tension-anchor tents on the lawn to protect the turf.
Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center
11 Longview Rd, Chester Township
Another Morris County Parks venue, with formal garden ceremony spots, scenic lawns, and a dedicated outdoor tent area. The historic Haggerty Building is available as an indoor backup if the weather turns. Same vendor-application and insurance process as Frelinghuysen — outside rental companies are explicitly allowed. Most couples book a garden ceremony plus a tented reception on the main lawn, with bistro lighting overhead and a sub-floored dance floor inside.
Willowwood Arboretum
300 Longview Rd, Chester Township
Willowwood is the more intimate of the three Morris County Parks venues — formal gardens, indoor cottages, and a reservable tent area best suited to smaller weddings of 40 to 120 guests. Same vendor-friendly policy as the rest of Morris County Parks. We typically install a 20x40 clear-top or sailcloth tent here so the botanical backdrop is visible from inside the tent. Great fit for couples who want a garden aesthetic without the larger logistics of Frelinghuysen.
Private Estates & Backyards
Mendham, Harding, Chester, Long Valley & throughout Morris County
Private property is our bread and butter in Morris County — no venue restrictions, full flexibility on tent type and size, and the ability to design the entire event around the property. The most popular setup at residential properties is a 20x40 or 30x50 frame tent with sidewalls, anchored on grass or weighted on driveways. For larger estate weddings in Mendham and Harding, we install 40x60 and 40x80 sailcloth tents with chandeliers, sub-flooring, and full climate control.

What We Rent in Morris County
Sailcloth, Clear-Top & Frame Tents
Sailcloth tents are our go-to for estate weddings in Mendham and Harding — the translucent peaks glow at night with chandelier lighting. Clear-top tents are the most popular pick for garden weddings at Frelinghuysen and Willowwood. Frame tents (no center poles) handle the bulk of backyard parties because they install flush against houses, patios, and driveways.
Chiavari & Cross-Back Chairs
Gold Chiavari chairs are still the most-requested chair for traditional Morris County weddings. Clear (ghost) Chiavaris are trending for modern receptions. For rustic Chester and Long Valley weddings, cross-back wooden chairs paired with farm tables are the standard.
Farm & Banquet Tables
Solid-wood farm tables for family-style receptions, traditional banquet rounds for plated dinners, and cocktail high-tops for ceremony cocktail hours. Pair with our linen rentals for a finished look.
Lighting
Bistro string lights running the length of the tent ceiling are the baseline for every Morris County wedding. Add two or three chandeliers in the tent peaks for estate weddings, and uplighting around the perimeter for evening receptions.
Dance Floors & Sub-Floors
Every grass-based setup needs a sub-floor — uneven Morris County lawns are not heels-friendly. We install a level sub-floor under the tent and a separate hardwood or white dance floor in the center.
Climate Control
Morris County's elevation means the May and September/October shoulder season can get cold fast — we add tent heaters for those dates. July and August events get tent A/C units sized to the square footage of the structure.

Permits
Permits & Vendor Applications in Morris County
Tent permits and vendor applications are the part of a Morris County event that catches most couples off-guard — and most competitors gloss right over it. Here's what you actually need to know, based on the dozens of Morris County events we install every year.
Private property events: Most Morris County municipalities require a temporary structure permit for tents over 400 square feet — and the exact threshold, fee, and inspection process varies town by town. Morristown, Morris Township, Mendham, Chester, and Madison each run their own building departments with their own rules. For most 20x40 (800 sq ft) or larger tents, a permit pull is needed. We provide the engineering specs, anchoring diagrams, and insurance documents your local building department needs.
Morris County Parks venues: Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center, and Willowwood Arboretum all require a vendor application plus a current certificate of insurance from every outside vendor on the property. We've completed dozens of these applications across all three venues — we know exactly what they want, how long the approval timeline runs, and what coverage limits they require. You don't fill out the paperwork; we do.
Frelinghuysen-specific rules: Events must end by 10pm, and drones, balloons, confetti, and open flames all require Fire Marshal approval. Sparkler exits, sky lanterns, and confetti cannons are typically declined. We'll flag these during the planning call so nothing surprises you the week of the wedding.
Booking Calendar
Seasonal Patterns & Booking Timing in Morris County
Morris County's wedding calendar is one of the most front-loaded in the state. June, September, and October are the three months that book out fastest — and the fall-foliage stretch from late September through mid-October drives the heaviest demand of the entire year for estate weddings in Mendham, Harding, and Chester.
Practically, that means most Saturday dates for the next peak season are gone by January. If you're planning a Morris County wedding on a Saturday in June, September, or early October, the realistic booking window is 9 to 12 months ahead. Friday and Sunday dates open up significantly more flexibility.
Corporate picnic season runs from mid-May through mid-September and peaks in late June with year-end fiscal events at the Parsippany and Whippany office parks. Graduation parties cluster in mid-June. Bar and bat mitzvah season runs year-round in Morris County but spikes in October and April.
