Starrs Party & Tent Rental is based out of Glen Gardner in Hunterdon County and Bernardsville in Somerset County, and Hoboken is one of the furthest-flung stops on our delivery map — but it is also one of the most requested. Hoboken is a mile-square, densely built waterfront city on the Hudson River across from Manhattan: brownstone rowhouses, mid-rise condo buildings, a busy corporate office corridor, and public waterfront parks like Pier A Park along the river. That mix produces a different kind of dance floor job than we run in our home counties, and we plan for it differently.

There is very little raw lawn in Hoboken. Most of our installs land on rooftops, courtyards, patios, and hard-paved surfaces rather than backyard grass — which changes the install method, the load-in logistics, and the questions we ask before your event date. What does not change is the standard: a level, safe dancing surface that holds up for the whole reception, whether that is a rooftop wedding with skyline views or a weeknight corporate happy hour two blocks from the PATH station.

What we confirm ahead of time is load rating, freight elevator dimensions if the floor has to go up in sections, and whether building management requires a certificate of insurance for outside vendors.

Patios, Courtyards & Paved Lots

Brownstone backyards and shared courtyards in Hoboken are typically brick, paver, or poured concrete rather than open lawn. Same story as rooftops: the dance floor installs directly on the hard surface, aluminum-edged for a clean, secure perimeter. Frame tents are the standard tent pairing here since they need no ground stakes and can weight-anchor on pavement.

Waterfront & Public Park Events

Hoboken's waterfront parks along the Hudson, including Pier A Park, are popular backdrops for ceremonies and public events. Permitted use of city parkland for private events runs through the City of Hoboken, not through us — we recommend confirming your permit and any tent/structure restrictions with the city first, then we handle the dance floor, tent, and furniture delivery around your approved footprint and time window.

Indoor Venues & Corporate Offices

Hoboken has a dense corporate footprint along the waterfront and PATH corridor, and a meaningful share of our work here is indoor: office lobbies, event floors, and hotel ballrooms for holiday parties, launch events, and happy hours. For hardwood or tile venue floors, the dance floor installs over protective sheeting to prevent scuffing the venue's existing surface.

Booking

Booking Timeline & What to Confirm Before Your Date

Peak wedding and event season in Hoboken runs May through October, same as the rest of NJ, and Saturday dates on rooftops and waterfront venues book up fastest. We recommend 6 to 10 weeks of lead time for a standard install, and earlier if you want an LED light-up floor or your date falls during a busy fall-wedding stretch.

Building access is the variable that matters most in Hoboken and it is worth sorting out before the week of your event: freight elevator dimensions and reservation windows, loading dock hours, rooftop occupancy limits, and whether building management or an HOA requires a certificate of insurance from outside vendors.
